6 months compulsory holiday for South West farmers.
Starting from the month of October, the rain has stopped in many rural villages where farmers have their farm.
So through November, December, January, February, March and April in those areas, farmers are on forced holiday.
Hmnnnnn.
So we wait until the next rainy season.
And to think every state in the South West has nothing less than 10 – 15 dams that can be out to use for irrigation farming.
Oyo State has about 30 dams.
My small village in the state of Ekiti has dam lying fallow
Some one wrote that we have dealers and not leaders and I perfectly agree.
Not sure there is any South Western State that is not owning more than a month salary.
Pineapple plantation close to the dams
Pawpaw plantations will also survive
Avocado pear is another one
Mango plantation commands money
Let’s even assume those are long term returns.
What of providing pivot irrigation facility for farmers to use?
Charge them money for land and water rate as is done in the North.
Tomatoes
Pepper
Onions
Carrots etc all short term crops can all be grown for market
The government will make money while the citizens will make money.
But wetin I sabi sef.
Let’s keep voting in the dealers
