There are so many diluted shea butter in the market.

I discovered at some point that some people dilute Sheabutter with animal fat ( mansanu) while others dilute it with candle wax

You even see some women displaying Sheabutter in the sun. Original Sheabutter will not survive even the ray of sun that enter the room

How then do we identify the real undiluted sheabutter?

A. Colour:

Shea butter has two colours which is yellow and ivory yellow.

Sometimes we call it buttered colour.
From where it gets the name

White shea butter are made from bad sheanuts that is suppose to be removed before processing.

Most rural women store the sheanut for long in the house. It starts to grow some moulds which they don’t bother cleaning before converting the sheanut to sheabutter

B. The cooling reaction on skin or hair.
Sheabutter has a soothing coolness to the skin and hair.

Shea butter is use for many purposes eg repair hair loss, remove dandruff, clear eczema, smoothing baby skin, prevent rashes and spots etc.

3. The odour.
   The smell of shea butter is either nutty or earthy.

Sheabutter has no deodorant smell.
It has no chemical smell

4. Shelf life.
   An unrefined shea butter kept in a cool dry place should last for more than 3years, it won’t change colour and would not melt.
